The objective of this study is to analyze the Cashew Nut Chain for the regional development process, considering its importance in the process of dynamization of the territory Açu-Mossoró in Rio Grande do Norte state, Brazil. The method used in the research was the Case Study, aiming to reach all the households of cashew nut processing in the year 2011. The census was conducted through interviews with 230 producers from 4 municipalities of territory: Açu, Serra do Mel, Mossoró and Porto do Mangue. As a result, it was possible to verify the fragile organizational structuring in all the municipalities of the territory, although the processing of the chestnuts presents a feasible and important activity for the regional development dynamics, since it was possible to calculate a revenue of approximately R $ 20 million by year. Finally, it was possible to structure a picture of the current situation of the cashew production chain in the Açu-Mossoró territory, even with its bottlenecks of impoverishment of labor relations and influence of the middleman in access to markets.Downloads
