From abstract to concrete: Bakhtin’s presence in foreign language teaching

In this paper , based on foreign language learning theories, which are responsible for supporting methodologies, approaches as well as techniques concerning language teaching, we intend to focus on the theory by “Bakhtin’s Circle”, more specifically on Mikhail Bakhtin’s books - Marxismo e Filosofia da Linguagem e Estética da Criação Verbal (Os gêneros do discurso). Firstly three of the most traditional conceptions of language acquisition will be shown so as to, after exploring the main conceptions of the Russian philosopher’s theory, we discuss foreign language learning within Bakhtin’s theory.Downloads
